BRAJ MAHOTSAVA

spreading the cheerful celebrations of Braj - The Land of Krishna

It is said of Braj: "Saat var nau utsav"
and
"Every word is a song, every step is a dance and every day is a festival."

The lore of Braj is full of festivals celebrating Krishna. Solah kala sampoorn, ras raaj Krishna is the epitome of festivity. His life is full of music, dance and ecstasy. For the past five thousand years Braj culture has influenced all the various art forms of India - dance, music, sculpture, painting, literature, theatre, and even cuisine.

To showcase these aspects of Braj, The Braj Foundation has developed the Braj Mahotsava. This program follows a format that can bring glimpses of this rich cultural heritage of India to anyone's doorstep here in India or any other part of the world. Braj Mahotsavas were successfully held in Delhi, Jaipur, Barsana, Lucknow and most recently a grand show at Hyderabad. The Mahotsav allows glimpses into Braj's rich culture with Bihari ji's Phool Bangla, Shrinath Ji's Chhappan Bhog Darshans,Raas lila enactemets, rasiya gaan singing, dances depicting Krishna lila, and food courts serving the cuisine of Braj.
