Gomti Ganga (Kosi)

History of site

It  is said that on the request of His friends, the cow heard boys, Bal Krishna showed them His Dwarka leela (which was to commence in future). Gomti Ganga exists in Dwarika (Gujarat). This kund is the replica of the same created by Krishna. It attracts thousands of pilgrims round the year. The town where this kund is located is historically known as Kosh Van. It was here the treasury of Nand Maharaj, foster father of Krishna, was maintained. The town finds mention in sanskrit scriptures.

Plight of the Site

Efforts to Restore the Kund

This kund was lying in dilapidated condition and was collecting heaps of garbage and was also receiving the dirty water of the city nallah. Our inspiration, the revolutionary saint of Braj Shri Ramesh Baba encouraged Pt Ramjilal Shastri to donate his income from Bhagwat Katha in USA for this kund. Shastri ji, though hails from a poor family, happily did so. The local citizens also raised some funds. After a ferece battle with land grabbers who had encroached upon this kund, Gomti Ganga could be saved from complete destruction . The same was then reclaimed and restored. However , subsequently due to neglect and improper planning, it is returning to it’s original bad shape. Hence the Braj Foundation is now working on it’s complete beautification and maintenance model. The Foundation has already de-silted it's basin as you can see in pictures.

Proposed Development Plan

In order to develop Gomati Ganga into a happening destination, we have involved several types of professional consultants and our in-house team of professionals to create an excellent design.
We propose to develop this site with foot over bridge across the kund, picturesque parikrma path around the Kund, dioramas of it’s history, dense tree plantation on adjoining land, car parking facility near the kund, kiosks and facility centre, sound and light arrangement, other facilities, signage, equipment and guard room etc.
The Braj Foundation is trying to raise the funds to do this remaining work of beautification. We need roughly around Rs 95 lakhs for this project.
